About time…
March 14, 2010
We thought it was about time for an update. The kids are both doing well, although the last couple of nights have been shockers as far as Ollie’s sleep goes.
Ollie is now walking; he has been for about 3 weeks now – started at about 12 1/2 months. I was expecting it a lot earlier, but he did it in his own time. Amie is growing well. She is loving kindy and has made lots more friends.
We only have 2 weeks until we leave for the USA for Tim & Ashlynn’s wedding. We’re both getting really excited. Amie is also very excited, particularly about meeting Tinkerbell at Disneyland & going to Mickey Mouse’s Clubhouse!
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year
January 13, 2010
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year everybody….. better late then never huh??
We had a great Christmas this year. It was Ollies first & the first one where Amie really grasped the concept of Santa. The kids had a great time helping Becky put up the Christmas Tree, which ended up having to live on the dining table as Ollie kept pulling it over. On Christmas Eve we continued the Guptill family tradition of going to Nanna & Poppas for the reading of “The Night Before Christmas”. Later on Amie put out some water in a bowl on the deck for Santas Reindeer & some milk & a cookie for Santa on the mantlepiece.
On Christmas morning we were woken up to Amie yelling & getting all excited as she had discovered a sack of presents at the end of her bed. She was buzzing when she found an empty bowl on the deck & a pile of crumbs in the lounge. Anyway we all then cruised over to Nana & Poppas for the Christmas festivities for half the day before going to the Haworth Christmas up in Kumeu in the early afternoon.
On New Years Eve we all went up to Omaha Beach with Unlce Tim, Uncle Wai & Aunty Katie to some family friends batch for New Years. We had a great time & Amie had an absolute blast. I unfortunately didn’t think some things through & Ollie who has a normal bed time of 7 was kept up by all the music, yelling & fireworks. The poor little guy didn’t manage to get to sleep untill after midnight when we did.
The next day I managed to sneek in a dive at Goat Island before we all made the trek down to Mt Maunganui for a week in the sun with Nanna, Poppa, Tim, Kaite & Wai.
It was a nice week & the weather was superb but to tell you the truth I found it a little stressful because Amie was very unsettled which caused a few major tanties. I was very conscious of peoples right to have a quiet relaxing time without a vocal two year old trying her luck. We managed to get it out of her that she was missing home & her own bed, I suppose at two we can’t blame her for being home sick. We tried to keep her busy most of the time & I took her on a few Daddy Daughter dates which she loved. She adored the beach & even loved getting in the water with me. Ollie even enjoyed the beach & seemed to love the taste of sand.
We are all back to normal now & already only 3 days into it all it feels like we never had a break. Amie is dying to start kindy again for the year & regularly packs her bag & tells us she of off to kindy. Ollie now has 8 teeth & isn’t too far away from walking. He walks around the furniture all the time & can stand on the spot quite happily for a while but at the moment he seems to think crawling is much faster. His sleeping is still ho hum. At least once a night he wakes crying. His feeding is also getting better. He’s never really liked the baby mush & is really getting into eating the big people food. It’s his birthday in a few weeks so we will have to arrange something small for the family.
Well that’s it from me for the meantime. I’ll leave you with some photos to look through.
Spring 2009
November 6, 2009
Well spring is here, and we could possibly be the worst bloggers in the world! Latest news is that Amie has increased her hours at kindy and is loving it. She has a new toy iron and thinks it is the best thing in the world, and is regularly getting all her clothes out and ‘ironing’ them. She has also been asked to be flowergirl again, for our friends Nigel & Kayla in December. So including Tim and Ashlynn’s wedding, she’ll have been flowergirl 3 times before she’s 3!
Ollie is a monkey, a super cute monkey at that! Getting better at sleeping, but still not really sleeping through properly. Usually he just wakes once now! He is now at the pulling himself up on everything stage, so I guess walking is going to follow in the next month or two.He now has 5 teeth at the top and 3 at the bottom.
James and I are both really busy at work, and saving hard for the USA trip next March/April, which we are all super excited about! Our house is currently on the market, as we are hoping to buy a section and build, so we’ll see how that works out!
Here are a few pics of the kids!
Kindy & Crawling!
September 11, 2009
We realised the other day that it’s been 5 months since our last post. Life has become very busy. I am working quite a lot at the moment and James has been keeping pretty busy at work too.
Amie started kindy a few weeks ago. She is going 2 half days a week and is loving it. She has made one boy friend and one girl friend like she said she would. And has discovered she LOVES painting – it is the first thing she goes to every time. Toilet training is going pretty slowly. Some days are really good and other days it’s just not worth the fight to try and get her to go on the toilet – we’ll get there though! Her words are getting really good, along with her counting. She can count to about 16 or so now. She has started ‘reading’ (more like reciting) books to her dolls. Her favourite is The Waterhole. It’s quite a long book, and she has pretty much all of the words down pat. She is also getting pretty excited about going on the big plane in the big sky next year to see Uncle Tim & Aunty Ash.
Ollie is now 7 months. He has been rolling round for months now and has been crawling for about 2 or 3 weeks. He is a lot happier now he can get around. He is ‘talking’ (gabbling) a lot now. He’s also popped the two bottom middle teeth through, and one of the other bottom ones is almost through. He is still a shocking sleeper. Once in a while he’ll go from 10pm till 6am, but most of the time its more like 11pm – 5am. He has also started solids – lets just say one thing – I highly doubt that he’ll ever be fat!

Amie’s 2nd Birthday
April 27, 2009
A couple of weekends ago we celebrated Amie’s 2nd birthday at Okahu Bay Park, with lots of family and friends, and Amie got spolit rotten!
Here are a few pics of the party…
6 weeks & counting!
March 16, 2009
The last 6 weeks have flown by. We are slowly adjusting to having two littlies. Ollie is growing like a weed. He is now 4.1kgs (9lb ish) and 53cm long. Amie absolutly loves him and is always giving him kisses and cuddles. The other week she even tried to ‘help’ me by picking up Ollie and bringing him to me!!! Talk about panic!
I have struggled a wee bit with the lack of sleep – but as long as I have a nap when the kids sleeps overlap I seem to do ok – all I can say is bring on the 8hour stretches at night! Bex
Oliver “Ollie” James Haworth
February 3, 2009
Well yesterday after an extremely quick labour Oliver James Haworth was born at 6.10pm on the 2/2/09 weighing 5lb 13.
Both Rebecca & Ollie are doing really well after a slightly shakey start. It took the hospital staff 2 minutes to get Ollie breathing. I have to admit that it was the most intense 2 minutes I have ever experienced & I can’t describe to you how I felt when he finally took a breath & gave a small scream.
Not long to go…
January 19, 2009
Not too long to go now until #2 arrives. I am 37 weeks along now and have been having funny pains the last couple of days, so I think everything must be getting ready!
We had a great Christmas and New Year break. And James turned 30 as well! We had a spit at my parents place, although I wasn’t much fun as I had a bug / food poisoning and spent most of the evening with my head in the toilet! Ashlynn arrived from the states for a couple of weeks the next day – and Tim proposed while we were down at the Mount – so we get another sister!! We are really excited for them.
We had a good week down at the Mount, swimming most days and relaxing lots. Then were back in Auckland in time for Joel & Georgies wedding.
So, now it’s just a waiting game, for #2, but I have definately been nesting. The neutral baby clothes are washed, the bassinet is here, and a whole lot of random things have been tided and sorted out.
Hopefully the next post will be baby news! Till then here are some pics…

Thought it was about time I put up a shot of #2.
I am now 31 weeks along, 9 to go – although I am hoping that it arrives sooner!

Santas almost here!!
December 5, 2008
Hello all.
It’s been quite a busy few months for our household/family.
A couple of weeks back Beckys little sister Katie got married & Amie was the flower girl. She was so cute. During the practice she got really confident and ended up running down the isle shrieking. Well on the day Amie starting walking down the isle holding a bridesmaids hand & then noticed that everyone was staring at her and she got stage fright and ran back to Becky. Lucky Becky was also a bridesmaid & was able to pick her up and carry her down the isle.
The week after Katie & Wai’s wedding Becky & I disappeared down to Christchurch for a long weekend for another wedding. Grandma & Grandad Haworth looked after Amie for 4 days & 3 nights. It was the longest she has been away from us ever. I think we missed her much more than she missed us. Becky felt as though her right arm was missing.
I’ve been running a bit lately as I’m sick of being unfit. Back in early November I ran & completed the Adidas 1/4 marathon with Mum Guptill & my brother inlaw Wai. Now looking forward, Tim & I are in training for the Cathay Pacific 1/2 marathon in late Feb… I’ll keep you posted.
Becky is now 31 weeks pregnant, it’s amazing how time flies. It’s due Feb 9th. It’s been really tempting this time round to try & find out the sex but we have decided that we will wait for the supprise once again…. maybe.
Amie helped put up the Christmas tree the other day& has already attempted to open some presents that are hidden in the spare room. Becky heard Amie calling her the other day & found her by the tree with it half down on her. She was still managing to hold it up though… weight lifter in the making!!
She also seems to be learning new words everyday. She loves animal noises, & can tell everyone what noise a Horse, Cat, Dog, Bird, Cow, Sheep & Goat make. These days we are really having to be careful as to what we say, well we as in me. I walked in on Amie the other day yelling sit over & over to poor Macy. I had been doing it earlier while trying to give the dog breakfast.
Amie has regained another 2 Uncles over the last few months. William has come back from the UK & Andrew has moved back home from Christchurch. She thought they were dodgy to start with but has given them the OK.
Well time to sign off so I’ll leave you wth some pics.
